Starting Each Day in the Presence of GOD
"Before the noise of the day begins, before the demands of life press in, there is a sacred window of time that can transform everything — the morning hour with GOD."
Before the noise of the day begins, before the demands of life press in, there is a sacred window of time that can transform everything — the morning hour with GOD.
King David understood this. In Psalm 5:3 he wrote, "In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly." David — a warrior, a king, a man who carried the weight of a nation — made morning prayer his first priority. And it showed in the way he lived.
There is something powerful about giving GOD the first moments of your day. When you begin with prayer, you are declaring that HE is the source of everything that follows. You are acknowledging that your strength, your wisdom, your peace — none of it originates with you. It all flows from HIM.
Jesus himself modeled this. Mark 1:35 tells us: "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." If the Son of GOD needed that time alone with the Father, how much more do we?
Morning prayer does several things that nothing else can replicate:
It centers your heart. Before the world pulls you in a dozen directions, prayer anchors you to what matters most — your relationship with GOD and HIS purpose for your life.
It invites HIS presence into your day. When you begin with GOD, you carry HIS presence with you into every meeting, every conversation, every challenge. You are not facing the day alone.
It builds spiritual sensitivity. Regular morning prayer trains your spirit to hear GOD's voice throughout the day. The more time you spend with HIM in the quiet, the more clearly you recognize HIS leading in the noise.
It releases peace. Philippians 4:6-7 promises that when we bring our requests to GOD with thanksgiving, HIS peace — which surpasses all understanding — will guard our hearts and minds.
You do not need a perfect prayer life to begin. You do not need an hour of eloquent words. Start with five minutes. Open your Bible. Speak honestly to GOD. Tell HIM what you are carrying. Ask HIM what HE wants to say to you today.
The discipline of morning prayer is not built in a day — it is built one morning at a time. But I promise you this: the mornings you give to GOD will become the foundation of a life that reflects HIS glory.
Start tomorrow. Start today. Start now.
